STORAGE TIPS
- Label your containers and boxes on several sides for easy locating.
- We recommend using containers with lids rather than boxes for air tight
stacking purposes. Boxes will collapse over a period of time.
- We recommend that you avoid storing your belongings in plastic bags because humidity can cause damage to your goods.
FURNITURE
- Place a pallet on the floor to prevent moisture, and stand sofas and
mattresses on end.
- Protect mattresses and furniture with pads, sheets or plastic dust covers.
- Disassemble bed frames and tables with legs.
- Lightweight chairs can be stacked "seat to seat" or placed upside down on tables that cannot be disassembled.
APPLIANCES
- Fill interiors of appliances with linens, clothes or stuffed animals to save
space.
- Refrigerators and freezers should be completely dry. Open doors to prevent mold.
- Stoves and ovens should be cleaned before storing.
- Stuff towels between the washing machine and the inner tub of the machine to
keep the tub from rotating.
CLOTHES
- If storing wool items, use mothballs or cedar chips to prevent moth damage.
- Keep out-of-season clothes accessible, your belongings may be in storage longer than you anticipate.
- Clothing that hangs in a closet should be packed in a wardrobe carton.
MIRRORS, PICTURES AND WINDOWS
- Wrap with paper pads and/or cardboard. Mark the items as "FRAGILE." Stand them straight up.
- Items should be stored on their sides, never flat.
ELECTRONICS
- Use the original packing for electronic items if possible.
- When you disassemble electronics that have numerous cables, such as computers and stereos, place small colored stickers on the cable and the same color sticker where the cable goes.
